DDC’s Chairman and CEO awarded the Gold Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit
On 13 March, upon the occasion of the Hungarian national holiday, János Szarkándi, Chairman and CEO of Duna-Dráva Cement Kft., was awarded the Golden Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit (Magyar Arany Érdemkereszt) in recognition of his several years of arduous and commendable efforts.
János Szarkándi received the award from Dr. Miklós Seszták, Minister of National Development, in a ceremony held on 13 March 2017 in Magyarság Háza (House of Hungarians), in recognition of his services as Chairman and CEO of Duna-Dráva Cement Kft., as President of the Hungarian Cement Concrete and Lime Association, and as founder of the „Duna-Dráva for Talents” scholarship program.
“I award him the Golden Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit in recognition of his outstanding professional and public services, carried out both nationally and internationally with the aim to cater for the Hungarian national economy’s need for high-quality construction materials in a socially responsible and environmentally conscious manner,” reads the certificate issued on behalf of János Áder, President of the Republic.
In recent years, János Szarkándi has been bestowed with several awards by the State. In 2006, he was honoured with a Minister’s Certificate of Merit, and in 2010, with a St. Barbara Medal for his outstanding professional achievements.
