Duna-Dráva Cement Kft. purchases CEMEX operations in Croatia and later Hungarian assets as well
Duna-Dráva Cement Kft. (DDC) announced today that it has reached an agreement for the purchase of CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) operations in Croatia including its assets in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.
The Mexico based company CEMEX also sells its Austrian and Hungarian (supervised by CEMEX Austria) operations to the Rohrdorfer Group, which is currently present in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Italy. In the near future Hungarian assets of CEMEX will be purchased by Duna-Dráva Cement Kft. from the Rohrdorfer Group.
After signing the agreements in order to close the transaction an official process of approval starts in all regions involved. DDC and the Rohrdorfer Group first take control over the assets after a successful approval process.
The rationale for the acquisition of assets in Croatia and Hungary is similar. The acquisitions will strengthen the position of Duna-Dráva Cement Kft. in its respective market and will complement its existing geographical footprint. The operating network of DDC will also be extended with these acquisitions of assets. Beside the already existing cement plant in Bosnia & Herzegovina, DDC’s portfolio in the region is to be extended with significant amount of cement production capacity.
