Mohács Abattoir

One of the largest Greenfield investments of Baranya County in 2016, the Mohács slaughterhouse, which was built with a budget of almost HUF 20 billion in the outskirts of the town, is set to start production during the end of the year. The construction works started in the summer of 2015 with the main purpose of developing a pig slaughtering, boning and cutting facility which uses the latest state-of-the art technologies.

The builder of the complex is “MCS” Vágóhíd Zrt. and the prime contractor is Market Építő Zrt., while the engineering work was completed by two companies, the Óbuda Építész Stúdió Kft. and the Hungarian branch of ATP Innsbruck Planungs GmbH.

The exclusive supplier of ready-mixed concrete products necessary for the construction of the slaughterhouse is the Mohács Concrete Plant of DDC, which also provides concrete pavement, different structural concretes and industrial floors for the project. Approximately 6000 m³ of the CKT-4 type concrete pavement and a total amount of 16 500 m³ of structural concretes are being utilized. Because of the increased road load over the area of the slaughterhouse the CKT-4 surface received CP 4/2.7-22/F2 basalt concrete covering instead of asphalt. DDC’s Mohács plant supplied 7500 m³ of this product.

From a concrete-technology viewpoint the project is extraordinary because it needs concrete products from which such concrete elements can be created that are set to be exposed to acid, blood, fat or salt and therefore need to be completely resistant to the eroding factors of such substances.
